EMERY
NORTHEAST/MIDWEST

Hi.
My name is Emery. I'm twenty two years old.
I love to dance and dream and draw all day.
I started drawing as a little kid like everyone else. I was not a child prodigy, I was very average at smiley faces and flowers and family portraits. But I loved it so bad. My mom enabled me with endless sketchbooks and buckets of supplies (thank you mom) and it all made me so excited. I had these items and with them I could create infinite possibilities. WTF.
High school hit me hard with the emo phase which I WILL NOT elaborate on, but out of it came my love for music and my first gig designing for a band. I love working with musicians more than anything. I think sound and sight coming together is the closest we can get to a god. A good amount of my portfolio you will find on here is work I've done in collaboration with musicians. Photo, video, posters, covers, etc.
I have a BFA from the University of Michigan. I never pursued a specific concentration in my studies. I preferred floating between the studios as they peaked my interest. I walked away from this experience as a bit of a jack of all trades. I'm not necessarily talented at all of the trades, but I can confidently weld, cast molds, paint nudes, draw cartoons, design posters. Anything I think of, I can summon into existence. If I have a vision, I will figure it out. Creating art is my favorite way to experience life.
I'm currently working on my minor in entrepreneurship also at UofM. I am in love with what I do. The arts have been my biggest comfort throughout life. I feel so strongly for the community of people I have met through what I do, especially in queer spaces. DIY art scenes struggle at the hands of landlords and corporations. I want to learn everything I can about business and startups so that I can protect these communities that mean so much to me.
This website is an archive of some of my favorite works from over the years, organized how I like. Enjoy clicking and discovering.
